North York Academy’s 2009 Boys delivered an outstanding performance at the Umbro Top Rated Showcase, putting together an impressive weekend and ultimately earning the championship title through determination, teamwork, and high-level performances against strong competition.
The group remained undefeated throughout the event, showcasing their quality on both sides of the ball while consistently rising to the occasion in important moments.
The tournament began with a commanding 3–0 victory over BVB International Academy, setting the tone early with an organized and confident performance. The team followed that up with a hard-fought 1–0 win against FC Durham, demonstrating discipline and composure in a tightly contested match.
Building momentum, the boys produced another strong display with a 4–1 victory over ProStars FC, combining attacking quality with relentless work ethic to continue their unbeaten run.
In the championship match, North York Academy faced Calgary Rangers in a highly competitive final. After a hard-fought 0–0 draw in regulation, the title was decided from the penalty spot. Showing tremendous composure under pressure, NYA secured a 4–3 penalty shootout victory to capture the Umbro Top Rated Showcase championship.
Across the tournament, the 2009 Boys displayed the character, resilience, and competitive mentality that continue to define North York Academy. Their performances reflected not only strong results, but also the hard work and commitment shown every day on the training field.
