On Sunday, May 11th, we took on the Sudbury Cyclones in our Mother’s Day match at our home, JJP Earlscourt Park.
Cuban singing sensation, Marta Elena, and her band ignited the day, firing up the crowd for a pivotal moment in the club’s history. The classic Salsa hits were the pulse that brought the crowd to their feet before the players marched onto the pitch with their mothers by their side symbolising the significance of Mother’s Day.
As the players stood proudly in front of our audience, U13 player Sydney Hamel showcased her talent by performing the Canadian national anthem, impressing everyone with her singing abilities.
In the match, our team started off with a bang in the first half, dominating the ball possession. This led to an impressive opening goal by Ronell Perdigao, who converted a beautiful over-the-top pass from our day-one player, Cristiano De Freitas. The players’ celebration with our twelfth man of the day, the home audience, was a moment to be remembered for everybody spectating.
During the halftime break, Power House Fitness hosted an exciting push-up contest. Children and older audience members got involved in celebrating the day with some friendly competition, while the charismatic host provided us with some hilarious commentary.
In the second half, the Sudbury Cyclones stepped up their game, scoring a goal to even up the score at 1-1. The blues continued pushing for a winning goal but were sadly unable to. The final score of the match was 1-1.
The JJP crowd, a vital part of our success, did not disappoint. Hundreds of people showed up to support the blues. The fans’ singing and the upbeat drums of Tdot Batu created the perfect atmosphere for our blues to continue their undefeated streak in League 2 Ontario.
Overall, the event was a major success, and we look forward to creating more memories with you all.
