North York Academy’s Grassroots team had a day to remember as Canada Men’s National Team and Toronto FC star Richie Laryea paid a special visit to Canadian soccer’s next generation.
Laryea, who has carved out an impressive career at both club and international level, reflected on his roots at North York Academy. During his high school days, Richie Laryea shared the pitch with NYA’s own Coach Bryan, and their coach was none other than the dedicated Coach Ezio. The two key figures at NYA once helped Richie Laryea pave his path to the top!
The young athletes were thrilled to meet Laryea, greeting him with a handmade sign and asking him all kinds of questions about his experiences in professional soccer. Laryea shared stories of perseverance, teamwork and dedication, core values of North York Academy.
Having Richie visit us at Lamport Stadium was an inspiration to us all at North York Academy. Seeing someone who walked the path our players dream of once taking and learning from his stories shows our players that their dreams are within reach.
