North York Academy’s U17 boys competed in the Potomac Memorial Cup in the United States.

The boys competed in the Platinum Division kicking off the tournament with 1-0 loss against the host team Potomac Blue. NYA tied the second game against Real FC, ranked 14th in the US, and who went on to be tournament champions. Although the boys played a fierce game, they were not able to break the deadlock. The final match vs Brausa United FC was excitement from start to finish.  We started off the game down a goal and scored the game-winner minutes before to final whistle winning 3-2.

“This tournament was great from top to bottom. We faced good competition every game, the facilities were fantastic with the best grass fields we have ever played on and there were College Coaches on the sideline watching which is the most important.”

Academy Director Bryan Cerqueira
